Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District conducts an “in-house” basic firefighter operation training academy once annually to develop our future firefighters. This program meets and exceeds Illinois’ Office of State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) minimum requirements for “Basic Operations Firefighter” (BOF) certification eligibility. Our comprehensive classroom and “hands-on” training program not only include the BOF training but also provides the following training necessary for these certifications:
- Courage to be Safe
- Fire Service Vehicle Operator (FSVO)
- Hazardous Material Operations.
The backbone of our training program is the emphasis on our shared values, known as “The Elburn Way,” and fosters team comradery to set the tone for what it is like to work as a firefighter. This program will prepare the recruits to become functional members of the fire department at a basic level.
