Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District has become a new Chapter for Project Fire Buddies, Inc.

Project Fire Buddies are firefighters who offer support and give back to children fighting critical illnesses. Project Fire Buddies started in Oak Forest Fire Department after they responded to a call for a young child who was battling cancer back in December of 2016. Project Fire Buddies brings joy to kids struggling with serious illnesses. Volunteers visit their fire buddies at home, play games, read books, bring gifts for special occasions, and show the kids just how special they are. Currently, there are over 80 fire departments that have joined and become Chapters for Project Fire Buddies, Inc.
